Deze publicatie bundelt acht bijdragen aan de 10e tweejaarlijkse internationale conferentie van Editors of Diplomatic Documents, die het Huygens ING in 2009 samen met het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken organiseerde in Den Haag.

Centraal thema van de conferentie vormde de plaats van de ontwikkelingshulp in het buitenlands beleid. Bijzonder is dat deze bijdragen over de geschiedenis van de ontwikkelingssamenwerking het perspectief van de donor en van de ontvanger van de hulp bijeen brengen.
