We are, of course, very interested in developments of national opinion in the Netherlands on the subject and I am grateful to have your report on the recent debate. We are conscious of the need to discourage the Indonesians from resort to military threats and actions and have urged our mutual allies, the British and the Americans, to help in this direction.
