Particulars The master was commandeur of the fleet (4392-4399). The GANGES originally departed om 11-09-1781; five days later the ship returned to Texel. The GANGES sailed via Mauritius. After having arrived at Ceylon the ship continued its voyage to Batavia, where it cast anchor on 15-11-1783. The high death-rate among the crew was due to scurvy. See also the BOT (4392).
